BLANCHARD PTA COMMITTEES

Beautification & Environment
The beautification of our campus at Blanchard is an ongoing priority of the Blanchard PTA.  This committee will plan and implement two clean-up days during the school year.  Blanchard began a school-recycling program in 1989, and has continued to strengthen these efforts by enhancing the awakenings of the importance and benefits of recycling.  Our recycling bin is located at the end of the parking lot for collection of aluminum cans.  This committee will also be responsible for a phone book recycling campaign held in late October.

Clothing Bank
Children in need of school clothes are referred to the Sara Spano Clothing Bank by the school administration.  This committee will coordinate volunteers to work at the clothing bank four to five days per school year.  Workers will sort clothes and help the children who come for clothes.  The Clothing Bank is open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 -12:00.  Contributions of cash and clothing are gratefully accepted through the Blanchard PTA.  PTA sponsors school-wide clothing drives during the year.  This committee also handles the Trim-A-Tree Program.

This committee is responsible for working with the Columbus Police Department's DARE program in implementing a "Say No to Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco" agenda.  To represent children's' commitment to being drug free, this committee sponsors a Red Ribbon Week in October of every year.

Fall Festival & Silent Auction
This annual event is held in October.  This committee will coordinate volunteers to run various games and booths, as well as people to prepare and serve food at the concession stand.  The committee also collects donations from local and national businesses for a silent auction held during the Fall Festival.  This event is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy some good old fashioned fun.  This committee works closely with the Room Mothers.

Field Day
This committee coordinates the annual field day held during the spring of each year.  This is a wonderful chance for your kids to have fun and show off their athletic ability.  Everyone's a winner at Blanchard!

This activity generates the bulk of the revenue necessary to fund our many school projects.  This committee makes sure the teachers have their packets prior to the beginning of school and collects the orders and tallies the totals later in the fall.

This committee is responsible for implementing a comprehensive school health program to include vision and hearing screening tests, accident prevention and safety, nutrition, self-esteem building, violence prevention and personal health.  This committee will also submit a health tip for each PTA newsletter.  Through handouts, special programs and competitions, we stress the importance of good health and safety.
